Great opportunity for a local lugger and roll off DZ Licensed Truck Driver in the Ottawa area. Will be traveling regionally within the area. Will report into the facility at the beginning of each shift and are home every night. Competitive pay starting at $27.04 / hour plus comprehensive benefits!! Full-time Permanent! This position is open for domestic candidates only.
The Driver is responsible for servicing accounts in a safe, courteous, and timely manner. The Driver is responsible for delivering and depositing containers to the supplier as well as picking up containers when deemed necessary to remove them and take them to the designated location.
Duties & Responsibilities:- Responsible for completing a pre and post inspection of the vehicle each day before operating. (Will teach).
- Responsible for documenting all inspections to ensure equipment is maintained and in proper working order.
- Responsible for reporting any and all safety and environmental issues immediately to the supervisor.
- Sitting, standing, reaching, bending, and working in a variety of environments, both internal and external in all types of weather conditions.
- Minor truck maintenance (adding oils, fueling).
- Check containers for damage before delivery and pick-up, report all unsafe items to supervisor immediately.
- Check the loads for hazardous or liquid materials.
- Use correct loading and unloading/dumping procedures.
- Clean all debris off of truck bed.
- Ensure the truck is maintained to meet 5S Standard.
- Clean up any spillage before setting container down.
- Ensure all product is correctly accounted for on daily paperwork.
- Ensure containers are accounted for on daily paperwork.
- Attend all meetings required by the Division manager/supervisor.
- Follow all plant and company safety guidelines in the performance of all job duties and responsibilities.
The Individual:- High school diploma or GED is preferred but not necessary.
- A minimum of 1 year driving experience is preferred
- Lugger and roll off truck experience for commercial trucks up to GVWR 63,500 KG is preferred but not required.
- Applicant must have a strong work ethic and positive attitude for this FAST-PACED and physically demanding position.
- In order to be considered, you must have a clean driving record. Must possess a CLEAN CVOR Abstract and Driver Abstract. Applicants must submit both their CVOR Abstract and Driver Abstract along with their resume upon applying.
- Required to possess a full DZ.CANDIDATE MUST BE ABLE TO DRIVE MANUAL 18 SPEED EFFICIENTLY
- Experience in scrap metal haulage useful but not necessary.
- 40 hours a week with possiblity of overtime. Schedule is Monday to Friday 7:30am-4:00pm.
